Mayella was found bruised and beaten
Tom Robinson had been accused
No doctor was called
Then Ewell gets called to the stand

And Robinson fled as Ewell ran for a Sheriff.

The case comes back to session
Mayella testifies on her own behalf.
Saying she called Tom Robinson
Inside her fence the night she was raped.
Atticus asks why Mayella didn’t put up a fight
Or how her screams didn’t wake her siblings
And lastly how the result of that night
Were bruises to the right side of her face.
When Tom couldn’t hit her on the right
Side of her face being as he can’t use his left arm at all.
Atticus blames her father for the bruises
On her face saying that there was no rape, her father had beaten her.
She screams and shouts as water comes
From her eyes and begin to roll down her cheeks,
She refuses to answer any more questions,
And the proceedings go to recess.

Tom said that he passes the Ewells' on his way to work
Mayella always give him chores
One day she ask Tom about a broken door
When he was checking it out, she hugged him
As she was about to kiss him, Mr. Ewill threatened to kill her
His employer bursted in the courtroom the he never had trouble
He was sent out for being a disturbance
The prosecutor said that he could've stopped the situation
But Tom said he didn't want to cause affliction
People in the court were shocked, since blacks don't feel that way
Mr. Gilmer said was the one that intrude
Dill told Scout that Gilmer was rude
Scout replied that it was his job
Dill kept on saying he was a slob

Chapter 20

In the courtroom’s balcony
Raymond drinks from a paper sack
Pretending to be a drunk, he provides
A reason to have friends which are black
Really, though, he’s not a drunk, he just stands his ground
That all the white men in this town are bad to be around
Medical evidence isn’t shown
But the jury’s thoughts are clearly known
So Atticus reminds them, he’s not a criminal just because he’s black
And only two questionable testimonies try to hold him back
Atticus tries to persuade the jury
That Ewell beat his daughter, in a fury,
She lusted after Robinson and tried to re-direct the blame,
Getting him jailed for non-existent rape is now Mayella’s aim.
